Meet Katie Vigil
The organization was in need of a lawyer on the board, and Katie stepped forward. “I was able to see our wonderful organization grow from one part-time employee to what we have now. I was also able to see so many families helped by Family Promise,” she said. “The biggest pleasure has been working with so many extraordinarily dedicated staff and volunteers. It’s uplifting.”
After growing up in a small town in New Mexico, Katie went to college at Yale University. She was a member of the debate team before transferring and graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas. She attended law school at the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C. – working for a congressional representative and as a law clerk for the U.S. Department of Health, Education & Welfare while she was in school.
Upon graduation, Katie returned to the west and began working as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Labor. She litigated employment law cases in a six-state area before retiring recently.
In her free time, Katie Vigil enjoys singing in the choir, playing hand bells and working in her yard!
